This track is the first single taken from Naughty Boy’s upcoming second album, out spring 2018.
“One Chance To Dance” is a future late night dancefloor classic. Whether it’s the propulsive drum rolls, soft melodic synth lines or the addictive sitar loop, the song’s backdrop serves as the perfect canvas for Joe Jonas’ heartfelt plea for a dance with the object of his affection.
“I had the tune just sitting there for about a year,” explains Naughty Boy (a.k.a Shahid Khan) discussing the song’s origins. “I knew I wanted to do something with it for my new album but I just wasn’t sure exactly what at the time.I’m a big fan of (DNCE Song) “Cake by The Ocean” and when the guys were in town recently I met Joe, he came in the studio and we just vibed on the tune.”
“One Chance To Dance” was inspired by Michael Jackson songs,” Naughty Boy continues. “But it’s about not being as good as Michael Jackson. I was thinking about his songs and a new pop tune that would reflect that era of music and that’s why it has a sort of old school sound to it.”
Another track for Naughty Boy to add to his already stellar resumé, which now boasts over 2.1 billion global streams! Hisnumber one smash hit “La La La” featuring Sam Smith has received over 1.5 billion combined global streams to date and has gone platinum in 11 countries. Then there’s his collaboration with Beyoncé and Arrow Benjamin, “Runnin’ (Lose It All)”, which sold over 2.5 million copies and reached #4 in the UK singles chart.
Currently working on his second album – the follow-up to 2013’s critically acclaimed debut Hotel Cabana (top #2 in the UK) – Naughty Boy says that despite collaborating with superstars such as Beyoncé, Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, Wiz Khalifa, Wretch 32 and more, he still loves the thrill of discovering new talent.
The impressive list continues…having worked with incredible artists such as Missy Elliott and John Newman, as well as up-and-coming talent like Ray BLK, Dua Lipa and Raye over the past year, Naughty Boy is not saying just yet whether any of those sessions were for his own album. Whether they will or not, in the meantime fans can enjoy this high energy floor filler.
