Resonance Records co-owner and London based DJ George Smeddles has just landed his first VA slot with Do Not Sleep. After Darius Syrossian remixed George’s ‘Baby Drums’ EP at the start of the year, it’s only fitting that he returns to the imprint 6 months later to feature on their ‘Ibiza Sampler.’ Featuring some of the biggest sounds of 2017, James Burton, Jamie Roy, Manu Gonzalez, Mirko Di Florio and many more have contributed to this exclusive set of tracks, which closes the season in style.
It’s been a big year for George Smeddles – he joined forces with Max Chapman to release on Toolroom, as their track ‘Zulu’ hit #2 on Beatport. Not to mention releasing on Erase, Daylight Robbery and remixing for As I Am on Jump Digital. Performing alongside the likes of Steve Lawler and Detlef is now something of the norm for George, who is solidly cementing his place in the live circuit – he’s a regular at London’s Egg Club, and has recently shared stages with the Abode crew and many more.
Adding to his hefty release and gig schedule, George’s involvement with ‘The Ibiza Sampler’ comes at a time of big plans, including a Resonance EP at the end of the month. Suitably titled ‘Gotta Have House’ comes in typical George Smeddles fashion: chunky drums, delicate percussive stabs and a deep, grooving bassline that keeps things moving for the duration. On producing the track George added:
Steady build ups and subtle drops keep the party going from start to finish in this one. The progressive funky vibes will have you dancing for days at a time as George delivers a party to your speakers yet again. You can tell he’s setting himself up for a big 2018 – prepare yourselves though, George Smeddles is only just getting started.
