INTERVIEW: Emmecosta

Hey Guys, Welcome to Vents! How are you?

Hi there! Thanks for having us.

We are doing fine, waiting for the giant winter of Sweden.

First of, what does you band name mean and where did it come from?

The name emmecosta is a visual representation. It consists of the  word “Emme “( in italian letter M )that graphically represents the tops, peaks and the mountains, and the word “Costa” (coast in italian).

How would you describe Emmecosta to someone?

We consider our music cinematic. Probably is all about visions and suggestions, it can be the soundtrack for different moments.

Can you describe each role you play in the band?

We all play different instruments, both in studio and live. It’s our way to work on this project

Can you describe the inspiration behind your EP Velour?

VELOUR is the feeling of unshakable longing for a place we’ve never been to. This is a specific form of wanderlust – a craving for a distant land or a deep feeling of ‘homesickness’ for a place we have never seen. We Imagine distant places through small fragments: ordinary everydaylife fallen elsewhere.

We are going through a strange sensation of disorientation, something magical seen from far away. We fall in love with this fragment. It holds the promise for more. We move around it.

How did you find the song writing process?

Well, when it comes to songwriting, or soundwriting, we start from a small detail, a single piece of a huge puzzle, something dear to us.

Then we build an epic scenario that evokes the  truth of this dear detail.

What is each of yours favourite song of Velour?

Our favourite track is definitely HEAVY HEART.

What musicans to you admire?

We all have different backgrounds. It goes from old school italian songwriters to nowadays digital soul acts.

What made you go with the dream pop genre?

Dream genre because we celebrate intimate landscapes through a melancholic stream that merges with dreamy vocal narratives.

Who would be your dream collaboration?

Would be amazing having the chance to dance with Francis Farawel Starlite!

How are you finding being on Icons Creating Evil Art?

Icons is our family, we fall in love since the first day. We are pointing the same way!

Do you plan on going on tour to support the EP?

Yeah, planning to play some shows in 2k18.

What is next for Emmecosta, is there an album in the works?

Velour ep will be followed by a spinoff . Can’t tell much right now 😉

What do you hope for the rest of 2017?

Our plan is to make our music be heard, produce, play around and discover new fields.
