Switching up to something rather smoother, we are pleased to team up with singer-songwriter Noah Jack for the exclusive premiere of his newest single. “Neighborhood” tells the story of Noah‘s hometown of Park Ridge, Illinois calling it “a letter to my friends and family who were there for me from start to finish.” Being diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Noah wasn’t able to talk until he was 5 years old, but recalls being able to hum at age 4 stating “I always tell people that I learned how to sing before I was able to talk. So music has always been in my life even when I was a kid.” Now a sophomore at Belmont University in Nashville, Noah plans to release his debut EP titled All In The Family in January. Each track will be dedicated to a member of his family.
In addition, we had the time to talk with Noah about the song and much more!
Hi Noah, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
I have been fantastic. Just recording new tracks for my new EP, so nothing but positive vibes from me.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Neighborhood”?
Neighborhood is a song that will be off my New EP, and the song is about my hometown of Park Ridge Illinois. In particular the people who were there for me through all of the ups and the downs. The song is more of a letter to my friends and family who were there for me from start to finish.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
It wasn’t a particular event, but particular people. My family is one of the reasons I wrote the song. I also wrote it for my best friend who is my neighbor, and he is someone who I have known ever since I was 5 years old.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
I am releasing an acoustic music video of Neighborhood that I filmed in early August. It should be released very soon!
How was the recording and writing process?
The recording process was more than 6 months starting in January one day after my 21st Birthday. We did a lot of sessions to make the song perfect! The writing process took over a year. I was thinking of many stories to talk about in the song like my family and all of my friends in my neighborhood.
How has your upbringing have influence your music?
I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at the age of two. My mom took me to speech therapy and I did not know how to talk until I was 5 years old, but I learned how to hum a song when I was about 4 so I always tell people that I learned how to sing before I was able to talk. So music has always been in my life even when I was a kid.
Does your new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?
The single is apart of a new EP that I am releasing called “All in the Family”. All of the songs are about my family. Each track is for a member of my family.
Any tentative release date or title in mind for the album?
I am in the process of recording it now. It should be done this year, and I will hopefully be releasing the EP by January for my birthday.
Any plans to hit the road?
I am hoping so. I am very new to the music business, so I am doing everything on my own as far as booking, and I don’t have a manager at the moment so I hope to get one very soon!
What else is happening next in NoahJack‘s world?
I hope to have the song influence everyone. My story can hopefully help others that even though we may all have our obstacles in life, but through hard work and dedication anyone can achieve there dreams. I hope to do a lot more shows and just be happy everyday!
