Hot on the heels of a North American tour supporting John Mayer this summer, as well as a string of sold-out headline dates around the U.S, The Night Game announce the release of their highly anticipated second single, “Once In A Lifetime”— out today via Interscope Records. Listen to the new single HERE.
Martin Johnson talks on his inspiration behind the new single; “there was a self-destructive time in my life when it was challenging to walk out my front door and the world in my head was more dangerous then the world outside. ‘Once in a Lifetime’ takes me back to the moment that started with a pinhole of light and ended with a chance to leave that life behind.”
On signing worldwide to Universal’s Interscope and Vertigo Records, Martin told Billboard Magazine of his decision that it was their “deep connection to the music; not just to the metrics, algorithms, or play counts.” He continued. “It’s refreshing to be working with a company that has ears.”
Last month, TheFADER premiered their Blood Orange (AKA Dev Hynes)-directed visual for their critically acclaimed debut single “The Outfield.” Describing the making of the video, Martin said “I wanted to portray the lyrical intent of “The Outfield” and the idea of swimming upstream. It was filmed on a fairly gruesome, rainy day to capture fighting against a sea of umbrellas. Although wet and cold, Devonte and I forged our way through the streets of the city and found our way to the heart of the song.” Watch the new video for “The Outfield” HERE.
Originally hailing from a small town outside of Boston, Massachusetts, The Night Game first entered the musical arena full-steam with their debut single “The Outfield,” OUT NOW. Described as a “future classic” by Noisey, and touted as a potential “hit” by BillboardMagazine, “The Outfield” was co-produced by Johnson and Grammy award winning producer Francois Tetaz, it also features backing vocals from Grammy Award winning Gotye and guitars from Australian performer and musician Kirin Callinan (Terrible Records).
