‘4U’ was co – written, recorded and produced with Tony Briscoe (Craig David, Beverly Knight) in Bristol and will be available digitally at all the usual outlets.
The new single is layered with electronic influences and beats that stem from a musical upbringing in Bristol and swing from dark and delicate to strangely uplifting. A hybrid of old and new, Ruth encompasses Billie Holiday, Etta James and Sade together with more recent personal obsessions like Sub motion Orchestra, Zero 7,Jamie Woon and Nikka Costa.
Hailing from the Southwest of England, Royall grew up in a creative environment and was writing music before she really knew how. After experimenting and developing her sound as a jazz singer on the UK and Berlin circuits, she is now an established face on the Bristol music scene. Having toured Europe and the UK, played Glastonbury Festival, The Jazz Cafe, and The Roundhouse, Ruth has also collaborated with a number of artists including Mo Pleasure (Earth Wind and Fire), Kevin Mark Trail (The Streets), Nate Jamesand has already been lauded by BBC Introducing West.
Ruth Royall and her band line up of Miguel Andrews (drums), Graeme Foy (guitar), Ranoah (Backing Vocals) and Paul Quinn (keys) are set to announce new live dates in the very near future.
