INTERVIEW: Bend Sinister

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Fine and dandy ???? It’s been nice getting back into the groove and playing shows again. We had a long break and everyone is feeling refreshed and inspired

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Walk The Other Way”?

It came about in a writing session in 2015 actually. The song is kind of about conflict resolution. Stopping and taking in what’s going on around you before just immediately reacting to a situation. Seems every day  there  is a new thing to get freaked out about and it’s crazy to  watch world leaders acting like kids throwing sand in the playground.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Just pick almost anything  that’s happened over the last 18 months!

Any plans to release a video for the single?

We are working on a video, hopefully have something out in November

The single comes off your new album The Other Way– what’s the story behind the title?

I guess a running theme with the EP is the idea of diplomacy, altruism and taking a minute to enjoy your surroundings and  the people around you.

How was the recording and writing process?

It’s always different with us. This one was like an episode of Battle Bots.

How would this record serve as a re-introduction for the band?

Well, it’s been 3 years since we put out Animals we’ve changed as people and our audience has changed. We have a rad fan base that has stayed with us for years so  it’s nice to have people excited to hear new stuff, it’s also great to have new energy in the band to bring the music to new ears as well.

Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?

CNN and TMZ.

Any plans to hit the road?

Yep! 8 Canadian dates in October and we’re booking some winter festivals right now too. Keep your eyes on www.bendsinisterband.com

What else is happening next in Bend Sinister’s world?

We’re actually working on a full length album right now that we hope to put out at some point next year. So go buy a concert ticket or follow us on Spotify so we can afford to finish the damn thing! ????
