Metronomy Announce Only U.S Shows For Summer 08

When Metronomy’s Joe Mount announced the release of their latest album Summer 08 the multi-instrumentalist explained it as something of a concept album, a nostalgic look back on his experiences around the time that Metronomy first sprang to international attention, with their globally lauded Nights Out debut. On Summer 08 he reflects on how the excitement of that time was tempered by missing key moments in loved ones’ lives whilst stuck on the back of a tour bus, as well as the confused mania of finding himself a critical darling. Said Mount at the time of the album’s announcement, “I want to have a break from touring but I don’t want a break from putting out music,” going on to note that he wants to prioritize time with his two young children. The band’s fans were resigned to the fact that they may not see these blistering new tunes played live for a while. But now, after a flurry of buoyant summer festival appearances across Europe, comes the news that Metronomy will indeed play some US shows, albeit only a handful, in November. We couldn’t be more excited!

The band are headed to Miami’s HoC Fest on November 11th and then make quick stops at Brooklyn Steel in NYC, The Independent in San Francisco before playing *two* shows at The Regent in Downtown Los Angeles on November 16th(the later show is already sold out so grab those tickets quick!)

Written, performed and recorded entirely by Mount, the aim of Summer 08 was to make a mature, eclectic pop record in the vein of classic works by OutKast, David Bowie and Daft Punk. Recorded in Black Box Studios in France with mixing courtesy of Bob Clearmountain (Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie) and Neal Pogue (OutKast), it’s the most daring and creative Metronomy album to date.

It contains some of Metronomy’s most beautifully crafted songs, including the Robyn duet “Hang Me Out To Dry”“Night Owl” and “Old Skool”. Hear these tracks, along with older gems like “Holiday”“The Look”“The Bay” and “Love Letters”, on this whirlwind tour!
