INTERVIEW: Space Cadets

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Zach: Anxious as hell! We’re chomping at the bit over here.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Way Too Loud”?

Dan: We sure can!

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

John: Short answer, no. We had just gotten back from our east coast tour and were still on a high from our last show in Boston. It came together from a few other songs that we hadn’t finished.

D: We had this emotionally charged rehearsal about a week after we got back from tour and we wrote the instrumental. The rest just flowed out from there.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Z: We already did! We launched it on our YouTube channel September 8th. Here’s the link:

How was the recording and writing process?

D: Incredible! We recorded at the Canyon Hut in Laurel Canyon with CJ Blair. It was so organic, free range, non-GMO – straight raw vegan emotion. The process just sort of flowed effortlessly.

What role does LA play in your writing?

Z: You can’t live in LA and not be affected by this city. We love it. We hate it. We wouldn’t rather be anywhere else.

Does your new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?

J: We have an EP coming out called, Let The Kids Play! It’ll be out soon!

Would you be diving into other aspects of frustrations?

J: No. Not that we know of. We’re too frustrated to think about it.

Any plans to hit the road?

D: Not in the near future, but hopefully we can do a few shows outside of LA soon! Keep checking the website for updated shows.

What else is happening next in Space Cadets’ world?

Z: This is it. We’re focused on creating more content and getting in the studio as much as we can. We have about 40 songs we haven’t recorded, so hopefully we can get those out. Just sign us already. Stop delaying the inevitable.
