‘Lost Cause’ is the first single to be lifted from the band’s eagerly awaited fifth album ‘Deadbeat Graffiti’ which is set for release in the Autumn.
To coincide with the album release, the band will undertake an extensive tour of America which begins with a special gig in their hometown of Austin, Texas on the 29th of September. The twenty seven date tour then moves on to Missouri on the 10th of October and ends up on December the 8th in Nashville and includes shows in Toronto, Philadelphia, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and many more cities along the way.
Originally from Canada, the Black Pistol Fire pairing of guitarist/vocalist Kevin McKeown and drummer Eric Owen moved to Austin shortly after the release of the eponymously titled debut album in 2011. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Chuck Berry, Nirvana, Buddy Holly and Muddy Waters, their sound effortlessly twists garage-rock, hip-hop, R&B and punk rock to great effect. In recent years, they’ve earned a reputation for their gritty and dynamic live performances on the festival circuit at the likes of Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo, Sasquatch, and Governor’s Ball. Consequence of Sound warns “sleep on these guys at your own risk” and the Huffington Post dubbed Black Pistol Fire as the “next big thing” after an impressive SXSW performance.
According to the band, “our fifth album is a representation of our listening habits. It has a roller coaster effect, with many different tempos and influences ranging from garage-punk, to hip-hop, soul, and everything else that we may listen to on a given day. It is meant to act like a mixtape or Spotify playlist, where the listener won’t know what’ll hit them next!”
