I’ve been great. Just been to Zürich on a music festival to see Mumford and sons, Kygo and many more so still living on the high from that. How are you?
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Black Skies”?
Yeah, it’s very important to me with the powerful lyrics. I really love how accurate in time it is, we really need to start showing our best sides now.
Did any event, in particular, inspire you to write this song?
Yes, as a matter of fact it was the refugee crisis about a year ago that started the whole process. The song was originally a love song called “Black Eyes” but then everything happened and we decided to make it more relevant in time and trying to send a message that it’s time to see the “Black Skies” above us and do something about it.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
We’ve made a small draft for a video and I’m going over it with the producer over the weekend.
How was the recording and writing process?
It was a great writing and recording process, I worked with Per Aldeheim on this one. We took it very slow and steady, no stress or pressure and therefore we took as much time as we needed to play around with it and we tried a lot of different things. It was very creative and I learned a lot.
Does your new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?
Nothing in the pipes for me as far as an album goes but I have a few other things lined up for 2017…
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
The single is currently out on all the mayor sites such as Spotify, iTunes etc.
What other dark but thoughtful themes would be exploring on this new material?
Nothing that I have done so far is similar to “Black Skies”, but I get a lot of compliments from people saying it really sounds like ME. The darker theme is definitely something I’d love to explore more though.
Any plans to hit the road?
I would love to hit the road but since I’m currently doing everything on my own it’s a very big project but I will definitely do some local stuff here in Stockholm. But of course, I’d love to travel and play my music to the world.
What else is happening next in Audrey X’s world?
Like I said, doing it all on your own is difficult, I have a well deserved trip (been working all summer) to Spain coming up next week and then I’ll be back to work with my music and my life. Will keep you posted!
