TheNewCoast are a fresh new project between two friends from Tunbridge Wells that formed in 2016. After releasing a few singles, the pair picked up support from Spotify’s Fresh Finds playlist and extensive blog support from Wonderland, CLASH and tmrw magazine, which forwarded them to the release of their debut EP, ‘Paraga Beach’. Together they form an enigmatic blend of indie-pop that thrives on intense and abstract verses, exploding into bittersweet choruses.
TheNewCoasthave hit the nail on the head with their enriched sound and new single ‘Sleeptalk’ oozes with indie-pop thrills. Combining touching and dynamic lyricism with sweetened guitar hooks and an intense backdrop of synth swells, their sound has seen them perform a sold-out ‘Made In Chelsea Presents’ showcase at Camden Assembly in August, while they’ve also supported KYKO on a UK tour earlier in Spring. Ahead of the release of theirnew single, ‘Sleeptalk‘ the duo are set to play numerous headline dates scattered around theUK, before this exciting year for the band goes out. Listen here
TheNewCoast comment more on ‘Sleeptalk‘..”Writing ‘Sleeptalk’ felt massively cathartic for us and allowed us to explore a really personal moment in a cinematic, 3 minute pop song. Lyrically, for me, it pin points a delicate moment between two people, people who are just starting to get to know each other, but also notice these colourful and intense emotions in a very short period of time.
Even though the song is reliving a specific moment from last summer, I love the way that someone can take whatever personal vision and meaning they like from the lyrics. It almost feels necessary. I don’t think anyone is going to have the exact same sentiment sonically and lyrically, but thats the best part, its so expressive to create your own idealistic story from thewords. However, we like to make everything in our music feel cinematic and infectious, so we want to set the scene in peoples minds and hopefully it’ll take you to that place. Like you’re watching a cool movie with a soundtrack that sounds like your life.”
