Multi-instrumental two piece Living Dead Girl are releasing their brand new single ‘Still Life’ tomorrow and Vents Magazine have the exclusive first listen of the B-side – ‘Killing Time’. Following a number of other well received singles, the duo have teamed up with top producer Paul Ressel (Sound familiar? That’s because he’s played with none other than the wildly popular Vuvuvultures and Lark!) and he’s obviously lent his keen ear to this instantly infectious alternative-pop nugget.
Dark, brooding and cinematic – this beautiful arrangement wouldn’t be out of place on a 90s teen horror or club scene. There’s something almost cabaret about it with some hefty industrial influence too, but what really sets it apart is the pitch-perfect, angelic vocals from Jessica English. The lyrics are haunting and the delivery matches them perfectly, it’s certainly an emotional performance – a stark contrast to a lot of the colder synth-pop gracing the UKs capital these days. There’s no question, they’re Living Dead Girl by title only, because these guys are breathing a whole new life into an otherwise tired genre.
