Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
We’re doing well thank you! Just came back off tour and feeling ready for more.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Nothing, No One”?
“Nothing; No One” is our most ambitious release to date. We’ve really delve deep into experimenting with different styles and ideas for this song. This is the first time we’ve ever incorporated different members on vocals other than Alex. This is our darkest release to date and we’re so excited to finally show everyone.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Lyrically the song is about feeling trapped inside your own head dealing with anxiety and depression. These evolved from personal experiences but with recent events that have taken place such as Chester Bennington’s passing we feel these issues need to be talked about.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
There will be a video out October 20th.
How was the recording and writing process?
We always start out with an initial idea and build it up from there. We knew what the lyrics for the song would be like so we wrote the music to kind of tie in with those thoughts. We spent a lot of time working on ‘Nothing; No One’ before we went into the studio which is something we never had the chance to do in the past.
How have Emmure and Machine Head influenced your writing?
Emmure are just straight to the point when it comes to their music and this something we try to stick with, not overcomplicating things but keeping it heavy. We wanted more of a raw, metallic sound for this song and bands like Machine Head definitely influenced that idea.
Does your new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?
We’re working on writing more in general. Can’t promise an album but we will have more to release in the near future.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Not at this point unfortunately. But expect more at the start of 2018.
Any plans to hit the road?
We’re planning some shows around the the single release date, so keep an eye out for that.
What else is happening next in Revealer’s world?
We’re about to head into the studio to record more music, which is exciting.
