Multi talented music maker/creative Roman Scott returns with his new single ‘Stuck In Paradise’. Listen here. This 3 minute slice of lounge pop-funk has elements of soul and jazz all tied in with a razor sharp chill production. The young Brighton based artist is fast becoming known for his powerful vocals and eclectic take on electro pop, a sound which ‘Stuck In Paradise’ showcases perfectly. Penned and produced by Roman, the track sees a more mature approach to music making from his previous work and is the single to be taken off a new EP, chalked for release in September. Speaking of the track he explains:
“Allured into a world that isn’t quite what you expected… You’re curious, but guarded. You release and let go, falling to a place you realise you can never leave. You’re addicted, and now stuck… in paradise – The track came to me shortly after I’d heard ‘Me and Your Mama’ by Childish Gambino. At the time I’d been listening to a few different artists and they helped shaped the style of the track, but Gambino, Jungle and Tame Impala were at the forefront.”
Previous single ‘Hold This Down’ was picked up by both Indie Shuffle and Hilly Dilly and went on to reach No. 1 on Spotify’s ‘Global Viral Chart’. An astonishing feat for an unsigned artist who simply dropped a new track on his Soundcloud channel! The track also garnered support on radio from BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing and BBC Sussex. Live-wise, Roman got picked up by American artist B. Dolan and went on a UK tour playing to sold out venues including; Electric Circus (Edinburgh), The Fleece (Bristol), The Globe (Cardiff), XOYO (London) and Concord (Brighton).
His up-beat music fills the floor with an accessible and lively atmosphere that one can’t help but dance to. However, there is a sinister undertone to his work which latches onto peoples subconscious and strikes a chord with those a little loose from society’s commercial consumers.
