Big Thief Post Premiere for Twain’s “Solar Pilgrim”

Twain has announced a new album Rare Feeling to be released on October 20 on Keeled Scales. Friends and fans, Big Thief, premiered the first track from the forthcoming full-length, titled “Solar Pilgrim.” The indie rock giants described Twain as “a voice for the ineffable that must be heard” and said of the song “He sings of the body’s unrequited courtship with the soul, pulling us through the first dance of this earthy world in its celestial gown, at last vanishing; a love that both leaves us and takes us with it into the unknown.” The Head and The Heart, Dr. Dog and The Dove and The Wolf also weighed in on this artist’s importance, illustrating Twain as the songwriter’s songwriter.

Twain is the masterfully delicate creation of Mt. Davidson. Over the course of a young but eventful career, Davidson has contributed his virtuoso musicianship to the likes of The Low Anthem, Spirit Family Reunion, Deslondes and more. Now narrowing his focus to the solo project, Davidson maintains roots in indie folk and Americana while thoughtfully exploring sounds of psychedelia, making Rare Feeling a distinguishing, multi-textured beast. Without word of new release, Twain has secured support slots for Big Thief, Lucy Dacus and Langhorne Slim, as well as coveted sets at tastemaking festivals including Newport Folk, Nelsonville Music Festival and Whispering Beard. Demand for his devastatingly raw stage presence continues to build nationwide.

The new album was co-recorded by Adrian Olsen (Natalie Prass, Matthew E. White, Flo Morrissey, Foxygen) and Scott McMicken of Dr. Dog. In addition to select dates supportingBig Thief and Lucy Dacus, Twain will continue a run with Langhorne Slim this fall. Notable plays include New York City’s Bowery Ballroom and Washington D.C.’s Sixth & I Historic Synagogue. All tour dates are listed below.
