We’ve been great. Every day abouve ground with an instrument, loved ones and some drinks is a fantastic day.
Can you talk to us more about your song “Electric Life”?
Electric Life is a song that is a little bit diffenent for us. It just came out that way and we love it. It’s about being positive and enjoying your life.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
It was inspired by how good I feel playing music and hanging with the people I love. When I can force myself to enjoy the moment life feels really good.
Any plans to release a video for the track?
No plans to right now but I think this would be a great song for us to do a video for.
Why naming the album after this track in particular?
We liked the sound of the two words together. “Electric Life”. It gets your attention and sound like a good time, don’t you think?
How was the recording and writing process?
The recording process for us is always loose. We only had maybe 80% of this song completed when we started recording the album. We were not even sure it would make the CD. It was missing some lyrics and the bridge section. We just kept working on it with Andy Patalan our co producer. He’s great at suggesting different things to try out. Eventually I worked out Bridge melody and lyrics that seem to work perfectly.
What was it like to work with Andy Patalan and how did that relationship develop?
Andy is great to work with. He’s is always coming up with ideas. He has no ego about either. You can shoot his idea down and move on with no problem. Of course he has a lot of great ideas that you do end up using. Myself and my brother Scott played in a band called Throttlebody with Andy. So we have a very comfortable and fun working relationship with him.
How much did he influence the album?
He was a huge influence on the album. There is at least one part of every song on the album that Andy helped us figure out what we wanted to do with it.
Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
I always try to write from a place of honesty. My lyrics are inspired by life in general. Good times, bad times, have a good laugh and drink with friends, love and sex.
The music is almost always the result of three guys getting into a room, having a couple of drinks, laughing and jamming.
Any plans to hit the road?
Only a few local shows til the end of the year.
What else is happening next in Spiral Crush’s world?
We are writtng songs for a new album we hope to have out by the end of the year!
