Very good, thank you for having us, we really appreciate it.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Voices”?
Yea, ‘Voices’ is the first single we released from our first EP YOUNG BONES. We have an official video for it out on YouTube and Vevo. It’s been getting a lot of love from people all over the world, in the short amount of time it’s been out, and we are incredibly grateful for that.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Yea definitely. ‘Voices’ is about tuning out or even confronting the negative voice or voices you may have surrounding you. A lot of times people project their fears onto you by telling you that you can’t do something or you shouldn’t do something, they really mean they themselves can’t do it. But it can also be about confronting the negative voices within yourself. We all have doubt and fear, and for myself and a lot of other people, that can be debilitating. ‘Voices’ is about tuning out the negative to create a positive and being confident in who you are.
How was the film experience?
The entire ‘Voices’ process felt really natural and almost effortless. We were able to shoot a lot of the video in this beautiful , historic church in NYC. The video is about the death of the negativity within myself and the birth of a new, positive, confident person.. so the church was the perfect location. It felt very spiritual. We’ve both dealt with such negativity in our pasts, by the end of filming we really did feel reborn in a way.
How was the recording and writing process?
‘Voices’ was the last song we recorded for the EP. The writing process was really simple, it almost felt like we didn’t have much to do with it. Like we were being guided by something we can’t even explain. I know that sounds crazy but we really didn’t put much thought into the writing it just came out in a very effortless way from a very emotional place. Same thing at the studio, I think the entire song was finished in 4 hours from the writing to the recording.
What role does NYC play in your music?
We were born and raised in NYC so that definitely influences a lot of who we are- but musically we are inspired by so many different artists and genres, I can’t really say NYC influences our music too much in that regard. Oddly enough when people first meet us or listen to our music they think we are from California.
Does your new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?
We are always working on music. We have a few songs we are ready to release as singles that we are finishing up visuals for. The next video we will release is for a song called ‘Ready To Die.’ The video is absolutely insane.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
That will be out this January but we are releasing a few songs before that.
Any plans to hit the road?
Definitely. We will be everywhere.
