A Very Odd Couple of Films Are Taking The Box Office By Storm

The weekend of 12 and 13 August 2017 was a great weekend at the movies. There were many noticeable movies making their rounds in cinemas. Amongst them are new releases that are taking the top two spots at the box office. Real money online casinos were also quiet this past weekend due to lots of people watching new releases. Annabelle: Creation and Dunkirk really dominated the box office.

Annabelle: Creation

Annabelle: Creation has conquered the box office taking the top spot grossing US$35,040,000over the weekend. This movie was first screened in theatres on the 11th of August. The movie is a drama and horror. New Line Cinema Studios are responsible for the creation of this movie which has a runtime of 109 minutes.

The horror movie is directed by veteran David F. Sandberg. It stars actors like Anthony LaPaglia, Miranda Otto, Stephanie Sigman, Talitha Bateman, and Lulu Wilson. The Annabelle: Creation storyline is about a former toy creator Sam Mullins and his spouse, Esther, who happily welcome a member of a religious community and six orphaned young ladies into their California farmhouse. In the years prior to this, the couple’s 7-year-old little girl Annabelle had died in a deadly car collision. Fear soon strikes when one child sneaks into a forbidden room and finds an apparently innocent doll that seems to have its very own life.


Dunkirk is in second place after it was replaced by the release of Annabelle: Creation over the weekend. The movie grossed income of around US$10 million. It was released on 21 July 2017 and was directed by Christopher Nolan. The action and adventure movie stars Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh and Mark Rylance. Dunkirk is distributed by Warner Bros. Ever since its release it managed to gross a total income estimated at US$363 million worldwide. US$153 million was made in the US alone. Dunkirk storyline is about an era during World War 2. It is based on the evacuation of Allied troops from the French city of Dunkirk before Nazi forces can take hold or besiege the city.
