Alternative Rock Artist Luke Austin Releases New Single “Hard Times”

Today, Toronto based emerging alternative rock artist Luke Austin releases his new single “Hard Times” (iTunes). Produced by The Trews’ John-Angus MacDonald (Glorious Sons, Meredith Shaw, Molly Thomason, Time Giant), “Hard Times” is a unique blend of instrumentals with an honest, nostalgic lyricism that showcases Austin’s emotional authenticity. The single release will be supported by a 7 date tour of Ontario that kicks off at the Horseshoe Tavern on August 19.

“The lyrics and the melody of “Hard Times” are very in touch with what it means to be human, to be vulnerable and overcome the everyday hardships we all encounter day to day. To be able to work on the song with John-Angus MacDonald of The Trews was a fantastic opportunity and in the studio it worked out so well because we were both very much on the same page. I can’t wait to get on tour and play it for everyone live!” said Austin.

Soulful and edgy with melodic guitar riffs and the lyrics “I was feeling kinda lonely, I’m going to take this leap of faith, gonna break out of this cage” and “hard times are coming, I can see but I won’t let it get to me”, “Hard Times” signifies Austin wearing his heart on his sleeve and taking a leap of faith no matter the outcome.

“Hard Times” will also be the first ever music release with exclusive content through Timeraiser, a Canada 150 signature project supporting emerging Canadian artists and nonprofit organizations. Timeraiser partners with nonprofits across a wide range of social sectors, offering them a unique way to meet talented volunteers and to promote their work to a wider audience of supporters. Produced by the Framework Foundation, Timeraiser connects art, Canadians and the causes they care about in a celebration of creativity and community.

A well rounded musician, Austin has worked with some of the most successful and respected producers/engineers in the industry including, Alex Bonefant (July Talk, Crystal Castles, K-OS, Rich Aucion), Vance Powell (Kings Of Leon), and John-Angus MacDonald (The Trews). Having played acclaimed shows including several stops at NXNE and Canadian Music Week, Austin has developed a strong stage presence that channels his musical sensibilities. When Austin is off-stage his philanthropic nature is evident, partnering with several charitable organizations including, Breakfast Club Kids of Canada and the Canadian Concussion Project.
