NIGHT GESTALT–the moniker for Swedish experimentalist Olof Cornéerwho’s also half of the internationally acclaimed electronic duo Dada Life—today (8/17) joined forces with EARMILKto premiere new track, “Holy Patterns.” A collaboration with fellow Swedish producer TM404, the alluring track utilizes fluttering arpeggios and atmospheric soundscapes to present a ballad that is as cinematic as it is minimal. NIGHT GESTALT has also announced his forthcoming sophomore album, NEW GLASER (exact release date TBA), whose track listing (below) was unveiled today. The new album will further explore Olof’s gutsy foray into experimental music that will be marked by a continuum of crisp, quality production and groundbreaking sound design that have proved to be the cornerstone of Olof’s respected reputation. The album will have a companion book about post-apocalyptic earth where a new society, “New Glaser,” is created.
Inspired in part by his love of 90’s IDM like Aphex Twin, punk music a-la Velvet Underground, and contemporary classical composers such as Arvo Pärt, John Cage, David Lang, Morton Feldman and Steve Reich, NIGHT GESTALT‘s minimalist musical approach combined with maximalist timestamps is subtly shifting and elegant. By manipulating simple arpeggios, the resulting pattern of notes creates delicate melodies, harmonies, rhythm and structure. It’s stark and it’s beautiful, like the night sky.
