INTERVIEW: Kid Shyne

Hi, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Great, thanks for having me!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Whoa”?

Sure. To sum it up, Whoa is a track to warn the listener about the difficult head games that are often played in a relationship. It’s a track that anybody can relate to whether or not they have experienced it first handedly.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Yes actually. Due to my personal experience with a relationship I had in the past, I knew that I wasn’t the only one in the position of feeling trapped in endless head games. So I went and made a song that everybody can relate to in one way or another. It’s a very vibey song.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Eventually! Stay tuned to my social medias to be informed when i’m dropping new content! @itskidshyne.

How was the recording and writing process?

Went great. The producer of track and I already had some chemistry built over my first single we worked on together, “Way Up”. This was definitely more of a vibey track and we kicked it off right as the producer made that up-beat bubbly trap sound. I instantly knew what to write about and felt the vibe of the track and we made it happen!

How did Pennsylvania influence your writing?

Oh man, how didn’t it? Hahaha. Basically, I felt as if I was stuck in a boring and unprovincial small town and if I didn’t put the most into my lyrics and make people feel my music to the max, I would be stuck with a basic 9 to 5 job like most people in the town I grew up in. I also wasn’t the best student in school so I was unsure of what I wanted to do with my life at the moment. I always knew music was my passion and destiny in life, but was too scared to pursue it in a judgmental town, especially being a white boy rapper. At the age of 14 I finally purchased a mic, pro tools, and an audio interface just to mess around with. I rapidly self taught myself the basics of recording and engineering the track and posted my first single, “Politely” on Soundcloud, which now climbed to 30,000 plays. To sum it up, Pennsylvania has a certain type of vibe to it like no other place. It’s a real “homey” vibe but unfortunately, there’s no real opportunity for the industry in a small town which is why I took the opportunity to move to the land of Los Angeles at age 18.

What role do G-Eazy and Hoodie Allen play in your music?

Hoodie Allen was the first rapper I really got into. I always appreciated music, but hearing him really made me listen to the lyrics, which changed my perspective on music forever from that point on. I saw it on the artist side of things and was amazed on how you pour your heart out onto a track and people dig it! G-Eazy influenced my vibe and also shout out to Mac Miller, which I was a HUGE fan of for the most of my upcoming rap career. I just appreciated his humbleness and down to earth vibe.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new EP – how’s that coming along?

Yes! “Whoa” is the second leak from my upcoming EP, “Way Up” being my first. The 5 track EP is coming out great. I’m connecting with extremely talented and all out great people along the way of making it. It’s truly a journey and my team and I are creating a movement its crazy to step back and look at what’s happening.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Can’t say exactly, but we are on the right path. If I were to take a shot at when to expect the EP, most likely somewhere around the month of October.

Any plans to hit the road?

Of course! I just did a show in my hometown last night (August 10th) and had the whole place jumping! It was a sold out show as my first real show ever. So yes, i’m super excited to hit the road and spread my movement and vibe with my fans once my new EP is released.

What else is happening next in Kid shyne’s world?

Lots. The grind never stops. At the moment, I’m focusing on finishing up the EP. Once the EP is dropped, I’m going to be doing live shows all over the Los Angeles area, so make sure to stay tuned to my social medias! I’m also about to drop a music video to my yet to be released single “Your Girl”. It’s a hit! You can find me on Instagram and Twitter @itskidshyne and on youtube just search “Kid Shyne” .
