Cali Releases ‘Baptized’

Following a hiatus that saw both Cali (vocals) and Misreid (producer) relocate to Dublin, the American pair began a more beat-oriented, hip hop informed journey that has led to this current sound for Cali’s official debut release. ‘Baptized’ is a confessional, dramatic cut, recalling the inherent class and vulnerability of Nancy Sinatra or Lana Del Rey; a throwback, sultry sound that showcases not only Cali’s effortless soul, but also Misreid’s stripped-back production prowess. Speaking on the track, Cali states: “’Baptized‘ to me is a song about despair. It’s about the moment where you stand alone with yourself and are stripped of everything you’re made of, and all you have left is yourself. The good, the bad, and the ugly. That moment where you’re desperate to be a better version of yourself and all you can do is pray for transformation.”
