INTERVIEW: Jaysin Voxx

Hi Jaysin, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Thanx! I’m doin great, just Voxxin The World!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Cause Everytime”?

It’s a powerful song about the war of relationships, I think we’ve all been there u know?  Sometimes that one is such a draw, a force, like Janet Jackson would say “like a moth to a flame”.   There are a lot of love style ballads out there, but I believe not one that delivers the message like “Cause Everytime” because of it’s brutal truth.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Yeah, definitely!  In fact “Cause Everytime” is probably the only thing good to come out of that relationship lol.  I mean, I shoulda known, we met at the club, she was wild like me, things were outta control and it was awesome.  I didn’t expect anything to get serious, so when it did.. I was done.  She was like a magnet, I could never say no, even the times I should’ve.  After we imploded, one night in bed I just started thinking about how many others know what that feels like…to love ( or lust ) someone that’s bad for them.  I was so inspired, I finished the song that night as the sun came up.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Yes, we are in talks about a video for “Cause Everytime”.  My team likes the idea of working again with our director for “Hands On Me” video.  If you haven’t seen it, check it out, it’s amazing and Carlos was a blast to work with!

How was the recording and writing process?

As I mentioned, I wrote it in one night after the demise of this toxic relationship I was in.  As far as recording, we started recording it in the back of a church in Inglewood, right down the street from The Forum!  The song really kinda took on a life of its own…that’s what I love so much about being not just the artist but the songwriter… NOTHING is more personal.  After we got a nice icy mix laid down, I brought it to Grammy Winner Evren Goknar at Universal Music for mastering.

What role does the Bay Area plays in your writing?

The Bay will always be a huge part of my drive and success.  Being raised in the Bay Area, I learned that talent is only one piece of the puzzle, you gotta understand the business side, hustle, read books, and have big enough nutz to make believers.  Do you know people even told Stevie Wonder no?  Ain’t that sum @#^&?!!  The single most important lesson I was taught by the Bay was that music is about personal creation, revelation… no one can write your story better than you.

Does your new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?

Absolutely!  This is it, we gonna VOXX IT OUT!  This year has truly been blessed, I’ve been in the studio writing and recording tons of new material ( I guess I had a lot to say ).  Right now we are in the selection process of what drops when.  Fans can get sneak peaks and hints by subscribing on my brand new website

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

We are currently playing around with titles.  I mean how do u sum up something for everyone who loves pop, dance, and club?  As far as release date, I believe my PR people said we are shooting for late September, early October.

Any plans to hit the road?

Yeah, we are talking about tour.  We got a shoot with my band coming up and will be confirming dates soon.  I will be heading out of the country for some special engagements as well.

What else is happening next in Jaysin Voxx’s world?

Wow lots going on!  “Cause Everytime” is the first release of many to come, the album, and tour plans.  I truly have the greatest fans on the planet, and I’m so grateful what their support has allowed me to do in 2017, and we are just getting started.

As a songwriter, I’m looking forward to making my voice heard, to make a statement that artists should really write their songs, ( fans should want that too ) not just rely on songwriting teams to tell their story.  I couldn’t believe it when someone told be that even rappers have ghostwriters!

I just think fans deserve to have artists that are sharing their world in their own words.  If you agree, follow me, let’s start a movement.  It’s kuhl to collaborate, but greats like Michael Jackson, Prince, and George Michael always told their own story.
#VoxxItOut, that’s what I plan to do.
