Can you talk to us more about why, from all your songs, did you choose to make an acoustic rendition for “Modern Flame”?

Fortunately, this is only Part 1 so there will be many more acoustic renditions. Because all of my songs begin as completely acoustic, these videos are a fun way to show how they were originally written.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Every song has a very specific event behind it. This one in particular was about a toxic relationship that was constantly being drawn in and out of. I think it’s something a lot of people can relate to.

How was the film experience?

It was really fun. We all showed up not knowing exactly how it was going to work actually and we hadn’t practiced once as a group haha. I’m honestly surprised how great it turned out, I think the video is actually from the first take which was pretty incredible. It just felt super natural.

What was it like to work with Yuna and what did she brought up to the table?

I can’t say enough good things about Yuna. She’s just an amazing, talented, beautiful human being. Her voice just brings this sense of effortless which is something really special when you witness it first hand.

The single comes at the heels of your new EP Eclipse – what’s the story behind the title?

When I visited home a couple months ago, I stayed at my grandparents house and during dinner one night they started talking about how they were going on a trip to watch the solar eclipse. They continued on to talk about how special this one was in particular, and how it and I just got super inspired from it. So I decided to make an EP of how I imagine what its like to watch the solar eclipse, no words, no vocals, just instrumentals. And thats where the title comes from.

Any plans to hit the road?

Yes! I’m working on the live show right now actually and working on creating an experience that’s going to be a little different than a normal live show. While we may hit the road in 2017 we’re hoping to debut some pretty insane production in 2018.

What else is happening next in Emmit Fenn’s world?

A lot of really amazing collaborations that I’m beyond excited about. Been working with a lot of musicians that I really look up to so there will be a lot of music on the way. I’m also working on more visual oriented stuff with animator Patrick Jean, who is absolutely incredible, and also con. Continuing to build out
