Hi Ari, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Everything is great. Thank you for asking. How are you?
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Dance Into The Party”?
It has a lot going on. It’s definitely a high-energy pop song that you’ll want to bounce at parties and events, but it has deeper elements within the track and lyrics that make this a smoother jam.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
For sure. I was in a particular situation that led me to writing the lyrics. It’s supposed to have an educational message in a way, so I look forward to talking more about it. It’s always fun to read the lyrics after hearing a song- I always learn more about it.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
The video was shot in Hollywood under the direction of Wayne Isham in late June. It will be released shortly. Yes- I’m really looking forward to this video. It’s definitely a high-powered/full-on dance video like you haven’t seen in awhile. Working with Wayne Isham was a dream- he is a genius in this industry, and Chuck Maldonado made this visual bigger than life with his choreography to the track.
How was the recording and writing process?
Working in the studio is always a long/hard process. Mostly because there are so many elements when dealing with production. I love it of course, but you really have to commit full days to being in there before you can get it right. I usually write my pieces/songs outside of the studio, and get down the melody before the lyrics. I have a lot written down, but there’s always a good instinct of what comes next.
Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating or writing with someone else than when you are writing on your own?
Yeah, for sure. I think you have to. It’s much different working on your own than collaborating. All of my songs are written by me, but I’ve been in those collaborating [writing] processes before and you really have to step back on some things and there’s more disagreement. I think this is because you’re trying to create a full perspective, and two different people can have completely different ideas of what that should look like. It’s kind of funny, but sometimes challenging.
Does your new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?
Yeah, I always got stuff up my sleeve. I have a lot of ideas that I want to put down, but likely won’t be back in the studio until September.
Any plans to hit the road?
Planning/hoping on it! I’m performing locally right now, but would be a dream to be around performing. Performing’s my favorite part about being a musician. That’s where you get to vibe with people and bring everything to life.
What else is happening next in Ari B’s world?
More music. Ari B’s world is very complex, haha. Definitely next step is to get more music out there, so I’m super excited to get in the studio soon. I’m also hoping to put a show together, so that will be very interesting. I love writing mostly anything, so if I have time, it will be good to write a short-film or anything along those lines.
