Hello VENTS, nice to e-meet you and talk to you about our latest song “Garden of Potential”.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Garden of Potential”? Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
We wrote this song in Stockholm with our producer, where actually most of our songs were written. It was one of this super hot summer days and unfortunately Stefany got sick and had to stay in bed. What a bummer. When she got up the next day, still only half alive, she came up with this humming melody on top of Dennis’ guitar. We liked it instantly and Dennis started writing about the Garden of Potential, which obviously is a state of mind. For us it’s so important to focus on the potential and keep dreaming until things come to live.
How was the film experience? How was the recording and writing process?
It was a great spontaneous adventure to shoot the video. We had a gig on the Azoren Islands and played in front of photographers from all over the world. After the gig Ivan Monages who turned out to be a great videographer invited us to collaborate with him. The Azores is a beautiful green place so we immediately knew we wanted to make a video for Garden of Potential. We just got up very early in the morning and drove down to the jungle and went with the flow, so everything was improvised. We figured we had the most beautiful scenery, so didn’t need much of a plan as the surroundings would speak for them self.
What role does Netherlands play in your writing?
You could better ask what role does Sweden play in our writing J. Cause most of the songs were written in Sweden, it’s where we work with our producer John Andersson. Of course the Netherlands is the place where we lived for a long time and we also wrote a bunch of songs there but recorded them later in Stockholm.
How has Caribou and Local Natives influence your music?
We love the warmth that can be found in Caribou’s music. He uses organic sounds and creates soundscapes that makes you daydream. A lot of it feels very cinematic, this is something we strive for, always. With Local Natives we really like the harmonies and melodies and their songwriting is superb. We like how they write about personal stuff and use metaphors to describe feelings. With Wolf & Moon we always write about stuff that is close to us, personal and intimate without giving away too much and maintaining a mystery.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?
Oh yeah, for sure you can expect an album. We have recorded lot’s of music and we cant wait to put it out there. But first we want to spread the word a bit, so thanks for helping us with that
Any tentative release date or title in mind? Any plans to hit the road?
We don’t know the exact release date or album title yet, but for sure it’s going to be all about travelling and living the modern nomad lifestyle.
What else is happening next in Wolf & Moon’s world?
Currently we’re planning to tour in South Africa in December 2017. But we also have a few gig coming up in Berlin.
