INTERVIEW: State of Sound

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Great, thank you! We’ve been finishing up our next single ”Heaven” and planning the next of the year.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Love Me Like That”?

We starting writing it about a year ago. We were actually planning to release it 6 months ago but for some reason we kept on changing little things here and there. We really liked the song so we didn’t wanna stop working on it.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

I always loved songs with really fast vocals. That was the first thing we did for this song, the really fast pre-chorus. And we always wanted to write a summer song with a saxophone riff. That was on our bucket list. Check!

How was the film experience?

It was great! We had so much fun and we danced a lot. We shot it in Los Angeles and it’s always nice to come to California. That’s the good thing about our style of music, it takes us to some really nice places. Our last video was shot in the Nevada Desert.

How was the recording and writing process?

I think we recorded at least 3 versions of the song. Changed the lyrics back and forth, different instruments for the hook, changed the key. But it was always enjoyable. I think as long as you enjoy working with a song you should keep going until you feel 100 % satisfied.

Does your new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?

We have a lot songs that we’re gonna release over the next year, not sure if it’s gonna be an album, singles or an EP. We like putting out singles and giving each song a lot a time. I think the song is the new album. We don’t believe in album fillers, we rather release 10 singles than an album.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Yes! We release our next single ”Heaven” July 28th. And we are already working on many more.

Any plans to hit the road?

Yes! We’re gonna start doing shows this fall. We are working on our live set right now. We are really excited to take our songs on the road. They’ve spend so much time in the studio so they really deserve to come out and see the world.

What else is happening next in State of Sound’s world?

Just keep on writing and releasing more music. As long as we keep on doing that the rest sort of comes naturally.
