Hi Kemmyé, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I’m doing fine. How are you?

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Forever”?

Yes, I love too. Forever is my second single and it is going to be on my upcoming album.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

I woke up one morning getting ready for my normal routines. The words and melody just came to me, So I quickly grab my phone and started recording.

How was the experience shooting the music video?

My experience was pretty hectic and exciting. The shooting of the music video was an all-day event. It involved me getting ready for the shoot at 6 am. But it was an exciting process because it was my first music video.

How was the writing / recording process?

I felt so comfortable working on this record because I did not put so much thought. The words and melody just flowed out naturally.

What role does Texas play in your writing?

Texas is a huge influence because it’s a diverse state especially Houston. Growing I have been exposed various music such as reggae, southern hip hop, reggaetón, pop, rnb etc. These genres help me understand different styles of songwriting and singing.

How has Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey influenced you?

I love Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson because their music is so soulful. They inspire me to be original and write songs that are relatable. As a kid, I remember listening to the radio station in the car and hearing both of their songs.

How’s your new album coming along?

The album is going great. I have been in the studio working late nights and early mornings. I’ve been experimenting with different sounds. I’m so excited to share this art with everyone.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

The title and album is still in the works but I am expecting on releasing it late fall /early 2018.

What aspect of relationships did you get to explore on this record?

This song focuses on a female perspective on wanting their lover to know they truly want their love.

Any plans to hit the road?

Yes. I have plans on touring spring/summer 2018 I’m so excited.

What else is happening next in Kemmyé ‘s world?

I will be releasing a new song next month titled “Ain’t worth fighting for”. Stay tuned for a release date.
