Two days out from their highly-anticipated new full-length, Clear The Walls, Baltimore-based experimental rock outfit Vinny Vegas have released an engaging new single “Progress For People”. Vinny Vegas are well regarded for their ability to innovate sonically while forging a personal relationship with listeners through emotionally connective lyrics and stirring soundscapes. On “Progress For People”, lead singer, Scott Siskind, exhibits some of his finest work lyrically to-date.
Lyrically, this track revolves around the recurring chorus of “keeping our time here”, which speaks of the idea of carrying the effects of our actions with us. I don’t want to say that it’s a song taking any sort of social or political stance, but I don’t think you can live on this planet without having an opinion on the current human condition in our society.
This Friday, July 21st, Vinny Vegas will release Clear The Walls in it’s entirety. To watch the band’s “Making of the Record” video is to know just how much blood, sweat & tears went into the making of this album. Their commitment to upholding a meticulous attention to detail has, in the past, required almost daily rehearsals. Now, with five band members spread across four cities (Baltimore, Philadelphia, Boston and DC), that was no longer an option. Instead the band took over four years to finish writing and recording the album. The resulting ten songs, however, were well worth the logistical nightmare, as Clear The Walls is a huge step forward for the band creatively and will likely serve as a cornerstone release in their career.
