I’ve been well thanks, a little tired though as I’ve just got back from benicassim.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “In The Night”?
It was written at the beginning of the year originally as a single but I decided to write a whole concept EP around it.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Not particularly an event but I was listening to a lot of soundtrack music at the time and wanted to do something similar.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
The video is already out for the title track, it’s on my YouTube channel.
Why did you decide to name the EP after this track in particular?
I wrote the title track first and the rest of the EP after so I ended up writing it backwards.
How was the recording and writing process?
I really enjoyed it, I’ve always recorded demos but I knew I’d be putting these tracks out so I worked really hard on recording and mixing them. It was stressful at times but it’s all part of it.
How has Henry Mancini influenced your writing?
Well I was listening to a lot of his music at the time and I was fascinated by his arrangement of strings. I had messed around with sampling strings in the past but nothing like what I’ve done on the EP after listening to Mancini.
What aspect of love did you get to explore on this EP?
The writing and recording process definitely. I used a different way of writing, it was written in third person rather than from personal experience which put me out of my comfort zone a little. There was no rush or deadline either whilst recording so I could work at my own pace.
Any plans to hit the road?
Hopefully september/October time, we just need to rehearse the tunes.
What else is happening next in Tom Hale’s world?
Just keep writing, if I feel something’s good then I’ll put it out. I’ll probably get a couple of singles out before the end of the year.
