INTERVIEW: Lianne Kaye

Hi Lianne, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

A: Hi! I’ve been really good thank you

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Clear”?

A: Sure, Clear is a really upbeat pop/rock track, with almost some upbeat funk inspiration behind it. I wrote the chorus a long time ago and then when I finally sat down with it and tried to write the rest, it actually felt quite natural, and I was lucky that my friend Shaun Reynolds was up for producing it.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

A: I think it was an amalgamation of events and meeting different people, it hasn’t got a definitive event or person that its about, but I think people can relate to it as its directed at meeting somebody who just sparks something and is exciting!

How was the film experience?

A: I really enjoyed it, the team that filmed it were really cool and understood the kind of vision I had for the music video.

How was the recording and writing process?

A: I always enjoy writing, but recording was really cool and the process of having the song produced and adding different parts in to bring it to life, it was really enjoyable.

Do you tend to take a different approach when you are covering someone else than when you are writing your own original material?

A: I think everyone has their own sound, so when im writing its more to suit my sound and the songs I want to write. Whereas when I do a cover, I am imagining what could sound cool with somebody elses song and if others will like the different spin on the track.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?

A: I’m hoping to release a new EP in the very near future!

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

A: I have quite a few ideas for the sound/tracks and title! Im really excited to start working on it.

Any plans to hit the road?

A: More likely next year! This year is more writing and releasing music, and also the London headline date!

What else is happening next in Lianne Kaye’s world?

A: I would love to collaborate with some more people on my YouTube channel and do lots more writing and releasing new music, I have lots of ideas so excited to see what the rest of the year brings.
