Tel Aviv-born musician Gal Lazer, known for his high-speed, higher-energy drumming, will release his debut solo EP as Gladys Lazer on July 20th via Boiled Records. Entitled Candy World/Bye Past, it features eight instrumental tracks that mix elements of breakbeat, post-jazz, krautrock, and trip-hop into a swirling mass of dreamscapes and electronic dirges. The album is currently available for pre-order digitally and on limited-edition cassette via Bandcamp.
Recorded in Sao Paulo, Brazil and in the countryside of SW Georgia, Lazer’s EP is built on his memories of a time when he had no home, and traveled the world solely on music. Tinted with the instrumental excursions of ’90s / ’00s Chicago experimental rock and coursing with primal, terrestrial rhythm and fragmented noise, it’s a jumble of melodic, percussive delights.

Lazer will play POP Montreal on September 13th at Casa del Popolo — more info here
