The Mummy

Do you Love your Mummy?

When yet another reboot of a famous film is one step to far?  That statement can arguably be used for the box office disappointment The Mummy 2017 the firstinstallment in the Dark Universe film series.

With Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Russell Crowe, and Courtney B. Vance starring in the film,  The Mummy was directed by Alex Kurtzman, and written by Christopher McQuarrie, Dylan Kussman and David Koepp, you would have thought the storyline of an  ancient princess entombed in a crypt deep beneath the hot sand of an unforgiving desert, and a destiny that was robbed from her would be the start of a great movie, sadly if you are to believe all of the reviews, the filmsimply didn’t cut it.

The thing is we love ancient evil that returns repeatedly, and that is the fundamental problem. It becomes overdone which lead to quite absurd content such as Dr Henty Jekyll making a show, albeit in a different role, but why use the name in the first place?

But back to The Mummy the movie! After Tom Cruise and Kate Mara/Bleachers promoted the film on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Tom Cruise surprised the whole audience with an invite to the premier of the film that was happening right after the interview.

Another interesting fact about the movie which might actually be more interesting than the movie itself is that the zero gravity scene took a mega sixty-four takes, and was actually shot for a full two days in a falling plane. Apparently a great many of the crew became nauseous during the scene and threw up. Luckily the stars were not involved in this mass puking.
