Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
(John) Doing great thanks, busy working on new material in the studio.
(Pete) Some great tunes in the works, can’t wait to share.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Don’t Wanna Be Loved”?
Pete – JOHN and I spend a lot of time writing songs with thought provoking lyrics and interesting topics. This song evolved more from the synth line. we wanted to create something with a more late 80’s sound.
John – the first single was originally another song but after we wrote this it definitely felt like a strong opening statement for who we are.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
(John) No specific event. Just recalling that sense of feeling trapped in certain situations and wanting to switch off your emotions.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Pete – Yes… watch this space. We have two concepts in development, one of which we’re posting next week We love shooting videos – the visual element is something I love, certainly when music and picture connect.
How was the recording and writing process?
(John) Always fun and quick. Once we Connect with a vibe, whether it’s synth line , guitar or lyric it just flows. We wrote the song in about 3 hours. Originally we weren’t sure if we have a chorus but then we realised the synth hook was a chorus in itself.
Do you tend to take a different approach when you are producing or writing for someone else than when you’re working on your own original material?
(Pete) Yes totally different. With Beta Drone we’re very honest to ourselves and do what comes naturally without any inhibition. With other artists you tend to write what you feel they’ll want. Sometimes it works, sometime not 😉
Does the new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?
(John) For us right now it’s one record at a time but we have so much music we’ve written it’s enough to make a great album.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
(Pete) Any fans out any suggestions for an album title?
Any plans to hit the road?
John – Live is where it all connects. So. As soon as enough people wanna see us, we’ll play.
What else is happening next in Beta Drone’s world?
(Pete) We’re working on a few stripped out versions of the songs right now. Having more versions keeps the content flowing and shows our versatility. Plus we love jamming, so it’s nice to hear our songs in different styles.
