INTERVIEW: Paragon

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hey Vents! We are great thanks! In the studio at the moment on remix duties and tryna catch some of that summer madness thats happening in the UK

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Get Right”?

Its a classic summer Jam, something between baseline and nu-disco with a bit of tropical chucked in.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

I guess just the feeling that you get when music takes you’re mind away from stress and aggro that we all go through sometimes. When we first wrote the bassline and vocal hook it just gave us that head nod where your like yeeaaaah!!!… and that pushed the rest of the track along.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

We have no current plans for a video as we are focusing on getting as many pieces of music out  this year. We have so much music we want to share with everyone.

What was it like to work with Naara and what did she brought up to the table?

Naara is an incredible artist. She brings a spatiality and openness to the music. Sometimes you just get an instant chemistry when you begin to work and thats how it went on this one. We met her on a night out in a local Bristol venue, started chatting music and from there decided to get in the studio after hearing her amazing voice. She has a great future ahead of her and we are happy to be a part in building her name and exposing her talent in our tracks.

How was the recording and writing process?

Very quick actually! When the studio time was booked in, we already had written the general lyrics and melodies for the song and Naara came in and added her vocal magic to the session. She was only in Bristol for a few months and we did as many tracks as we could in that time.  Get Right was the last track we did and as soon as Naara started to overdub the vocal it came to life. We have 2 other tracks with her ready for release and we’ll be sharing them soon..

What role does Bristol play in your writing?

Musically Bristol is a bassline city. Big bass sound has always run through most of the music here and is usually present in what we do. As a place Bristols is amazing, its energy and vibrance always has an influence on our music. We love the collaboration aspect, we know alot of people within the music scene here and cannot wait to collab with more artists. So much talent coming from Bristol always.

Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else than when you are working on your own?

We always try and be as open as possible to ideas when we’re working but it’s different depending on who you are working with. Different energies. When it works and you get a creative flow its a time when everybody can throw ideas into the mix, its refreshing and pushes boundaries. You aways come out of the session with something more than you expected,

Does the new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?

We have another single coming out soon and would love to release an EP this year for sure. Having said this, we definitely have enough tracks for a couple albums though already haha! So maybe.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Later this year with an EP, next single will be out this summer and we cannot wait to show you this one very proud of it! Dance floor track!

Any plans to hit the road?

Definitely! We’ve been concentrating on the studio so far with Paragon but in the last few months we’ve been getting our DJ set up and running and we will be including our live instrumentation to this and expand further soon.

What else is happening next in Paragon’s world?

We have a new remix coming out soon for an Australian artist and lots of new music on its way! We look forward to showing everyone what we’ve been up to.

Pleasure to talk to you Vents! Thanks for supporting ‘Get Right’ and stay tuned for new music!
