Already known for his innovative, independent rap sound, Ed Accura is a London songwriter with a unique perspective. Constantly inspired by the world around him, his latest single ‘New Age of Thingz’ grew from a conversation he had with his young neice. When she asked how he would alleviate boredom in the days before the internet, Ed began thinking about all the things that made those decades great. That list grew into this song.
It makes for entertaining listening – a simple structure and concept spun out into a full length rap song with funk overtones. It also helps that Accura’s obvious love for the things that entertained him in previous years comes across, lending it a lo fi charm.
‘New Age of Thingz’ is another sign that Ed Accura’s upcoming album, due later this year, will be well worth a listen. If you’re on the hunt for a independently minded artist with a fresh sound and something to say, you can’t go far wrong. Watch here
