Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Thank you so much, we’ve been great. We just released a new single and we have quite a lot of shows this festival season in Holland.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Silver Tongue”?
it’s a song about people talking down our dreams and goals by saying that they’re not realistic, then they continue saying “Hey, I really don’t know anything, you don’t have to take it from me.” But the damage has already been done.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Not one particular event no, I guess there we’re a lot of people telling us how to do certain things especially in a negative manner and we’ve got kind of fed up with it. So it’s about going your own way and believing in what you do, instead of believing what other people are saying.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Yes! We actually just released our music video on the 5th of July and premiered by Dutch Noisey.
How was the recording and writing process?
When planning the recordings of our new single we decided to work with a producer called David Hoogerheide. We got together a few times and worked on several songs. The idea was to prepare 5 songs and then record the best 3. However, when we entered the studio (church studio in Hoorn), things went really well and we managed to record 4 tracks. One of them was Silver Tongue, this was actually the last song we wrote and wasn’t finished yet when we started the recording process. This might have added to the enthusiasm when recording the track (this way of working was completely new for us).
Does the new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?
We’re definitely working on that! This summer we’re spending a lot of time on writing new material, which will eventually turn into an album. Our plan is to write a lot of songs and then carefully pick with which producer we’d like to record the album.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Not yet, our main focus is to write a lot of new songs. We do have 2 more unreleased songs that we recorded during the previous recordings with David Hoogerheide. We might release them still!
Any plans to hit the road?
Last year we got to play some great festivals in the Netherlands and we had our first road trip abroad as well (Great Escape Festival UK). That was something we really enjoyed doing so there are definitely plans to tour abroad, mainly Europe and UK first, but more on that later…
