Newcastle´s electronic alt-poppers Twist Helix have recently returned from their tours of the UK and Spain promoting their last single ‘Pulse’ (‘a dystopian synth-pop stunner‘ – The Most Radicalist) and will be celebrating the release of their new single ‘Little Buildings’ on July 22 as part of their headline set at the Northern Electric Festival in Newcastle.
‘Little Buildings’ is the second release from their upcoming album ‘Ouseburn’, which explores the post-industrial redevelopment of the North-East of England. The title is taken from a local music venue which the band also uses as a practice space. The song describes how the shameless profit motivated construction projects slowly destroy the fringe arts spaces and creative/community hubs, taking away the vibrant and colourful life inside them.
Since opening the Main Stage at the Evolution Emerging Festival in May 2017, the band have earned a growing reputation for their “dramatic and joyous live shows” (NE:MM) as well as for their intelligent narrative driven synth-pop which has attracted attention from the likes of the BBC, Cadena Ser (Spain), Fringe Music Fix, Insonoro (Spain) and Little Indie Blogs amongst others. With more than 15 festival appearances since 2016, Twist Helix have supported Everything Everything, BBC6 Music favourites Samaris, Kate Jackson (ex-Long Blondes), BBC1 Lulu James, Newton Faulkner and Dub Pistols.
Known for their busy “touring schedules that would put most signed acts to shame” (NARC Magazine), they have already announced the first 10 dates of their summer tour following on from 25 gigs and festival appearances in the first half of 2017.
