Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

-Hey guys! We’re great! Just finished a short east coast tour!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Paper House”?

-“Paper House” was recorded about a year ago, with our producer and friend Johnny Franck. We came to him with an idea and he worked with us until we came up with what the song is now, and really happy with how it came out!

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

-We all know at least one person who has been, or is in a “controlling” or one sided relationship to the point where they feel unappreciated and used to the point where they feel helpless. This song is sort of a reminder that we know what these people are going through from first hand experiences and want to let them know that they can push forward and stand up for themselves to get out of a bad hand they are dealt with.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

-Yes, we plan on doing a video hopefully with Spencer Charnas in it in the future.

What was it like to work with Spencer Charnas and what did he brought up to the table?

-Working with Spencer was really easy for us. Even though we didn’t get to work with him in person, we sent ideas back and forth and were really impressed with what he came up  with for his part in the song. Hopefully in the future we can play this song live with him.

The single comes off your new album From Sheep To Wolves – what’s the story behind the title?

-“From Sheep To Wolves” is about going from feeling like you have no self-worth to becoming someone who feels confident and knowing what your purpose is in this world.

How was the recording and writing process?

-We have been working with Johnny Franck as our producer for over 5 years now and feel like he is very easy to work with and are comfortable sharing ideas back and forth to come up with a product everyone is happy with.

What role does NJ play in your writing?

-The fact that all of us grew up in New Jersey, and have big influences that came out of Jersey such as: Senses Fail, My Chemical Romance, and Armor For Sleep pushed us to try and keep the scene going here and to try and follow the footsteps of these bands and break out of New Jersey in our own kind of style is what influenced us.

What aspect of bad relationships and manipulation did you get to explore on this record?

-This record is about the beginning of a bad relationship to the very end of it. Each song tells a story of what a bad relationship is and finding yourself along the way. An aspect we relay in this EP is to not dwell on the past but to learn from it and grow as a person through what you have been through and what you can achieve with motivation to dig yourself out of a hole you are in.

Any plans to hit the road?

-As of now we have a couple of things in the works so keep updated on all of our social medias for updates!

What else is happening next in VANISH’s world?

-We are going to be shooting a music video for a song off our EP called “Heaven Sent// Hell Bound” and hopefully one for “Paper House” as well as more tours in the future. “From Sheep To Wolves” comes out July 21st and we will be putting up a merch store with exclusive designs. Thank You Vents for the opportunity!
