Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Pure//Imagination”?
With Pure//Imagination like some of our other songs, we wanted to put across a real blatent self empowering message. It sounds cliche but the whole “If you can dream it, you can do it” spiel rings true with us. Everyone is always searching for something more meaningful and we want to help them in their search.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
I think it was a combination of things that inspired this song. We wanted something that had a real night and day feel but still had an epic rock and roll undertone with a positive message.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Yes, we are releasing a music video for Imagination around the time the EP comes out August 4th!
The single comes off your new album 41 – what’s the story behind the title?
41 is the house number Joe and I (Ben) grew up in New Fairfield, CT. This is also the spot where a lot of our musical development was born from when we were younger. – The name Lakeshore is actually the street name as well. We wanted something as real and personal as we could.
How was the recording and writing process?
The writing process was fairly easy. Ben would demo all song ideas in his home studio take it to the guys to spice up. When we got into the studio with Ken Susi he helped mold and shape a bit more and he is a guy that Ben and Joe have known for years so it was a fun process.
What was it like to work with Ken Susi and how did that relationship develop?
Working with Ken was great, I think he did a great job in complementing and bringing these songs to life. When Ben and Joe were with Emmure they had toured with Ken’s band Unearth . Ben also brought him The Contortionist in their early years as well for their debut Exoplanet
How much did he influence the album?
He def added his flair while keeping the integrity of the song, so again it was an easy process and a fun time!
Would you call this a departure from your previous musical projects?
Absolutley, Lakeshore give us the freedom to do what we want, whether a rock song like Imagination or a heavy song like Kings or anything in between. We aren’t held down by “Scene” standards or what people think we should sound like because we are creating our own poath. It feels great and is quite liberating.
Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
A lot of the lyrics are very personal to Ben and Shawn and is a team effort, but is a direct reflection of their emotions. Theres no real hidden messages or beating around the bush we are very direct in what we say and how we say it.
How has the road been treating you so far?
Well, actually our first show is in our homestate July 9th on Vans warped tour in Hartford CT – We couldnt have planned a better kick off show if we tried! We are all stoked to get things underway and have people not only hear but see what Lakeshore is all about!
Any highlights? Can fans expect different set lists on every date?
Until the album is released we are playing the EP front to back as its recorded …..With a could little extras here and there.
What else is happening next in Lakeshore’s world?
Well the plan right now is fairly simple. We play Warped then go out with Alesana and Eyes Set To Kill Aug 4-19 – Album comes out and wer’e just going to be playing shows as much as possible. So please connect with us via our socials or website and we will see everyone on tour very soon!
