How would you classify your music?
Blues, Funk and R&B.
Who are some of your top 5 musical influences?
Jimi Hendrix , Ray Charles, James Brown, Grateful Dead, Bob Marley, Wes Montgomery.
What do you want fans to take from your music?
I am hoping fans will be able to identify with the songs. Sing along and dance… and hopefully they can forget their daily trials and tribulations for a moment or two.
How’s the music scene in your locale?
Competitive: The Long Island Music scene is dominated by cover and tribute bands. That being said, there are many places to play for musicians willing to hustle the gigs.
What is the best concert you have been to? What do you like most about playing live?
Too many to mention… I saw the stones in the late eighties… great show… many styles of music there that I loved. I’ve seen the dead a number of times… a favorite of mine was glenns falls 1983… I love how the crowd interacts with the band… I really enjoy watching people dancing and reacting our music… singing the words etc.
6. Is there a song on your latest CD release here that stands out as your personal favorite, and why?
I think the title song “ACE” is my personal favorite. I love the way the song came together from the writing of it ….to the recording of it. We were thinking horn section at first and then as an afterthought, I thought I would try the slide.. It seemed to work out nicely on that one.
How have you evolved as an artist over the last year?
Over the past year I’ve gained more confidence as a writer and a performer. Playing Larger venues and getting a great response has helped. Writing music that people want to play and hear has been wonderful for me as an artist. I feel more and more expressive at every show.
If you could meet, play a gig, co-write a song, have dinner, have a drink with any band or artist (dead or alive) who would it be?
I would sit down with Prince I would to see and get a glimpse of his creative process.
What’s next for you?
Just more… more live performances at bigger and better venues… more recording and writing.
