Alt pop singer/songwriter JESSICA MURAE unveils powerful, organic visuals for her single ‘WILD’

Herts based singer/songwriter Jessica Murae has a knack of painting musical pictures full of mysticism and dream like playfulness, drawing inspiration from anything out of the ordinary. Her new single ‘Wild’ exemplifies this style, a track about breaking the boundaries and letting yourself be completely free.

“I wrote the song at a time in my life when I wanted to do something spontaneous. It was also that feeling where you’re doing the same thing day in and day out and it could almost lead you to self destruction; where at some point, if you don’t change anything then you almost feel like you’re on the edge to the complete unknown.”

The organic nature of the live instrumentation means that the track ebbs and flows, building tension and release. Vocally Jessica plays a blinder, layering vocals to create a swirling mass of hooks, evoking care free abandon at a time when the future seems so unsure. The striking video was beautifully shot at Asylum Chapel in Peckham. Jessica explains:

“The colours of pink, blue and gold looked so unique and against the derelict chapel that it very quickly became my dream place to film. The wide space in the chapel reflected the idea for the song – I was able to move and dance around the room and quite literally go ‘Wild’.”

Born out of studio sessions with musician/producer Jake Brett, ‘Wild’ was preceded by ‘Dance To You’, a track also from the sessions which has already been picked up by BBC Introducing. Previously Jessica won the Coffee Music Project in conjunction with Caffé Nero and went on to perform at the London and Amsterdam Coffee Festival and championed as Caffe Nero’s Artist Of The Month with her music playlisted across the nations outlets. Her self-titled debut EP was released late 2016 with the track ‘Still Cold’ named as BBC Introducing Track Of The Week through BBC Beds, Herts and Bucks on week of release. Live highlights include sold out shows at Kensington Roof Gardens, Notting Hill Arts Club, Ronnie Scotts and 229 the Venue last year.
