Montell 2099 and 21 Savage Share “Hunnid on the Drop”, Out Now With Red Bull Sound Select

New Zealand-based beatmaker Montell2099 has teamed up with 21 Savage for “Hunnid on the Drop,” available now with Red Bull Sound Select. Montell2099’s warped drum programming and haunted melody sets up 21 Savage to deliver evocative verses that cement his status as one of the most explosive new rappers.

Cosigned by Mr. Carmack, Sango and Soulection and Lorde, Montell2099 is rising as an exciting new electronic artist to emerge out of New Zealand. Read about his track with 21 Savage via Pigeons and Planes who wrote “Montell2099 provides a haunted house of a beat and 21 goes off with some of his most quotable lines since Savage Mode.  Montell2099 may be better known in electronic circles for his remixes and original productions, but on this evidence he should be on a lot more rapper’s radars.” In advance of the track coming out, Montell2099 broke down the beat to Genius.  Last week, Montell2099 surprised his Los Angeles crowd by bringing out 21 Savage to debut “Hunnid on the Drop” live at Red Bull Sound Select Presents: Brownies & Lemonade. “I’m super excited to share this track with the world,” Montell2099 says. “When I found out 21 Savage was keen to collab, I went on a beat making spree! Within a couple days I had at least 20 ideas made for him. He chose the third beat I played for him and did his thing in the booth. Within a couple hours the track was done.”

Following releases from Sampa the Great, Xavier Omär, Pell and Tennyson, Montell2099’s release is the fifth in this year’s growing catalog with Red Bull Sound Select, joining Gallant, River Tiber, G Herbo and more. Listen to all Red Bull Sound Select releases on Soundcloud & Spotify now.
