INTERVIEW: SIIGHTS

Q. Welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

We’re great thanks! nice to chat with you guys 🙂

Q. ‘Can you take to us more about your latest single ‘Nobody Like U’?

A. Yes, ‘Nobody Like U’ is our single which is out now & available on Spotify , apple music & all other digital platforms . We released it last Friday 23rd and have been blown away by the response so far with it reaching over 100k views in just a few days.

We put it out with a music video which we love and that we feel really mirrors the concept of the track.

Q. Did any particular event inspire the song?

A. It wasn’t a particular event as such, more of a concept which we both felt strongly about.

Its about love/romance, just forgetting everything for a while, living in the moment & enjoying life.

It touches on how someone special can influence your life & the idea of making new memories with that person.

Q. How was the film experience?

A. We really wanted the video for the track to match what our vision was for the song. The music video was conceptualised by myself & Toni along with our good friend and film maker Mark D Acoba. Mark was traveling around Bali, Thai land and the Philippines earlier this year, we gave him the song and he filmed it on his travels. The video really mirrors the lyrics & the journey of the song.

Q. How was the recording & writing process?

A. The Recording and writing process for this was a lot of fun as it came together quite quickly, We write / record everything ourselves and Mia does all of the production herself. The song actually initially came about when Mia had come up with a really cool ‘drop’ idea and sent it over to me when I was back in Scotland, I loved it and we started working on it as soon as we were back in the studio together. We both had similar ideas for the song concept & the lyrics came together prity fast.

Mia is a drummer/ percussionist also so she puts a lot of focus on the Rhythm section feel/groove in our tracks. The track is really centred around a Reggaeton feel.

Q. What role does Dublin & Glasgow play in your writing? How do these different cultures come together in your music?

A. Both myself and Toni had been writing for other artists so when we decided to come together to form SIIGHTS it was great to collaborate and bring each of our own unique perspectives together in the studio. I don’t know if where we’re from has influenced our songwriting as much as our individual musical & life experiences have. Although we both love our hometowns and the music that comes from them which has definitely influenced us along the way!

Q.  Does the new single mean we can expect new material – hows that coming along?

A. Yes! we have so much music we can’t wait to share, We also will be playing lots of new songs that people haven’t heard before in our Live set.

Q. What aspects of romance would you be exploring throughout this new material?

A. We will be exploring lots of different subject matters in our new material. From heartbreak to falling in Love, from overcoming something and finding your voice to a track like ‘Dance’ which is a fun track about going for a night out!

Q .Any plans to hit the road?

A. Yes! we can’t wait to visit all of the countries that people have been writing to us from & be able to play live for them. We will keep everyone updated on our socials about upcoming dates.
