DWNTWN releases new single, “Lonely”. Debut album “Racing Time” Drops July 21

DWNTWN today release their new single “Lonely”. The track is off the band’s upcoming debut album Racing Time due out July 21 (Jullian Records). Vocalist Jamie Leffler notes, “between Robert’s slide guitar and the extra twang in my vocals ‘Lonely’ explores our country influences more than any other song on the album. It’s urgency and driving nature make it my new favorite to play live. Our album title, Racing Time, comes from a lyric in this song and encapsulates the theme of the record. I didn’t set out to write so much about my constant battle with time and the struggle to achieve my goals, but most of the album deals with those real fears that I deal with on a daily basis.”

The band will be playing LA’s School Night party at Bardot on July 10.  To RSVP or for more information here.

Earlier this month, Jezebel premiered the video for their first single “Bloodshot Eyes” commenting, “The breeziness, the overdrive, the echo effects on DWNTWN’s latest single, ‘Bloodshot Eyes,’ are all qualities that make its hefty pop hook even more indelible. Add to this pastel video which explores various levels of connectedness, and it’ll be burned in your brain, sweet and breathless and brave.” Watch the video HERE.

In addition to Leffler, DWNTWN is Robert Cepeda (guitar and vocals), and Daniel Vanchieri (drums). They have released three EPs to date, which drew attention both in both North America and Europe.  To date they have 13 million plays on Spotify and have enjoyed radio support in their hometown with plays on KROQ, KCRW, ALT98.7 and KCSN. Racing Time finds the band barring both their songs and their souls. Lyrically, the LP explores relationships, coming of age, and the loss of Jamie’s father, former Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ bassist Howie Epstein who tragically died of a heroin overdose when she was 14. The album’s release date has added significance as it comes out the day of her father’s birth.

DWNTWN will be touring in support of Racing Time – dates to be announced soon. In the past they have played alongside, among many others, Haim, The Drums, Icona Pop and Sky Ferreira, and have had slots at Broke LA, Aboot Kinney Festival, CMJ, and SXSW.
