ALT-FOLK BAND BIRDS OF BELLWOODS RELEASE NEW SINGLE, “A YEAR AGO,” AND ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM, VICTORIA

Birds of Bellwoods have unveiled “A Year Ago,” the first single from their forthcoming album, Victoria. Listen to “A Year Ago. The song is now available for free streaming and download via Soundcloud, and will be released on all digital platforms on July 14th. The self-released EP, “The Fifth,” racked up accolades including a 2016 Independent Music Award and  an International Songwriting Competition prize.

Stephen Joffe (lead vocals / mandolin), Adrian Morningstar (guitar / vocals), Chris Blades (banjo / electric guitar / vocals) and Kintaro Akiyama (upright bass / vocals) came together when Joffe, going through a break-up, found refuge on Morningstar’s couch, pouring his heartbreak into collaborative songwriting efforts with his three friends.

Victoria will be released later next year. This debut full-length album continues to display Birds of Bellwoods’ “gripping compositions… meticulously executed and fantastically captured.” (Exclaim) The single, “A Year Ago,” introduces the next step in the evolution of the young band, and is currently available to stream and download.
