Keeping up with the awesome premiere, today we got English based Rock band Pirates of Panama who are back with their massive potential hit “Been There Before,” the band borrows elements from 80s classic rock such as Guns N’ Roses and add their own punch to it.
Pirates of Panama is an English rock band, formed in Bournemouth in 2011. Bringing their own style of hard hitting, ballsy punk rock and dirty glam metal, the Pirates have quickly gained a large fan base in places like the US and Germany as well as in the UK.
After starting out originally as a five piece, the Pirates have now found the perfect lineup, which consists of vocalist/bassist Louis Collins and guitarist Ed Van Egan.
After gigging relentlessly all around the local music scene in 2013, the band were ready to record and, over a period of three months, their self-produced and self-titled EP was recorded.
The debut EP pulls no punches. The opener and lead single (Bring You) Back Down, is a slab of hard hitting punchy metal, which continues through blistering punk infused tracks Smokeshow and Overdrive, before ending with the anthemic Raise A Glass.
Promotion of the EP was non-stop with the Pirates using social media, gigs and a radio appearance to get word of their debut out. A video for Smokeshow was also released in the early part of 2014, racking up YouTube views in no time.
But it’s live that the Pirates have really made their reputation. Their non-stop, energetic shows never fail to draw a large crowd. They have played various shows all around the south of England and they recently completed a mini-tour of Los Angeles, playing some of the most prestigious venues in the world at the Whiskey A-Go-Go and the House of Blues. bringing overwhelmingly positive responses from those in the audience. Pirates Of Panama will be appearing on UK national TV as well as a global online stream after a recent interview in Beverly Hills with a local tv crew during there last US tour.
In addition to the premiere, the band sit with us to discuss the new single and more!
Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Hi Vents! Thanks for having us! We are doing great thanks except for the English summer time weather! Busy working hard and writing harder 😉
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Been There Before”?
We would love too! Been There Before has always been a personal and crowd favorite of ours and a mainstay in our live set. We chose this as our main single for our EP The Chase due to popular demand. We felt this track was a true representation of what we are about.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
We took inspiration from many different areas in our lives. Been There Before is a song that feels familiar to everyone. We have all been there before, and we probably will be there again!
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Of course! We currently have a number of crazy ideas which are throwing around which will soon turn into a badass video!
How was the recording and writing process?
The whole process was so natural and raw. We had a cool idea for the guitar riff and played around with it. By the end of the session we almost had the finished product. Once we had this track nailed down we then took it to the studio with Platinum producer Simon Henderson who then helped us take our track to a whole new level. The recording process was fun, we managed to get the whole track down in a day which was an incredible experience.
Your music has this strong layers of 80s Hard Rock – does this particular decade plays a role in your music and overall writing?
The whole 80s hard rock scene is what got us into music in the first place! We take elements of all our influences and bring them in to the modern age and write what we think sounds cool.
How has your vision and sound have changed since becoming a duo rather than a five piece?
Our vision hasn’t changed since day one. We are still as hungry as ever, if anything become a duo has made us stronger. When we play live our sound is as good as it’s ever been! We are open to the idea to expand the band.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?
We always have more material in the works and always working towards our next release. We’ve got some great new material ready to record… which we can’t wait for you all to hear. Our management team is working with some really great producers such as Mikal Blue who we are super excited to start working with.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
That would be telling! Just kidding… A few name ideas are flying around at the moment. We are looking to have this new material out by the end of the year.
Any plans to hit the road?
Once the single is released we are looking to play lots of domestic and international shows. We want to share these tracks with as many of our as possible!
What else is happening next in Pirates of Panama’s world?
We just filmed a really cool Carpool Karaoke with a great YouTube Vlogger called “The Soan Age “ which is out now. This was an absolutely crazy day we had lots of fun doing something a little different! We are busy creating lots of new content for our fans and documenting our day to day antics. We have a great publicist and team behind us so we are looking forward to creating amazing new opportunities for our fans new and old to hear.
