Having become homeless for a period of six months, self-taught multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter, J.J Leone, has paid his dues, but it was his lifelong passion of song writing and performing that helped him rise from the ashes and set himself on the path to success as a professional recording artist.
Unfortunately, a series of unfortunate events led to J.J becoming homeless, but the talented young musician felt that since he had got himself into this situation, he would get himself out too. Leone showed the utmost determination and independence, surviving by busking every day, morning, noon and night on the streets of Northampton in order to earn money and make a new life for himself.
Now, with these experiences in hand, J.J has formed his own brand of soul-pop fusion and is releasing his latest single, ‘With You’; a gently acoustic-guitar led track, coupled with a classic R&B edge and topped off with Leone’s signature soulful vocals.
Coming from a travelling showground family background, J.J has always felt like an outsider to modern society and his hometown of Norwich isn’t considered a major musical city. Despite this, J.J prides himself on the fact that he writes, records and produces all of his own material, setting him apart from the crowd as the ultimate un-manufactured DIY artist.
As well as this, J.J dabbles in playing all instruments from his weapon of choice, the guitar, to bass and drums and everything in between, allowing him to form a more fluid and experimental approach to song writing.
In the past, J.J’s bedroom musician style has drawn comparisons with the likes of Jamie Woon, James Blake and early Cody Chesnutt, and it is his expertly-crafted sound that has led to him touring Barcelona at the age of fifteen and also seen him perform at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in Soho, London.
