“I wanted to make the video vibrant, silly and fun. Pink and yellow seemed the perfect summer colour combo to tie the video together. My favourite scene was with the two guys with pink balaclavas. My friend is a dog whisperer and he provided that huge dog for that scene and it was so well behaved.”
Musician and creative,Laura Lamn, has unveiled her brand new music video for the playful hip-house track, ‘Boyfriend’. Watch here. Produced by long time collaborator, S2_COOL(who’s vocals also feature in the chorus hook), the track sees the pair on top form as Laura delivers some clever wordplay and imagery, channeled through a loose and sexy flow over S2’s all-analogue synth and drum machine driven arrangement. Somewhat of an ode to teenage love, she explains:
“This is the first song where I wrote the lyrics purely whilst roller skating. It was a sunny day in Springville and I was doing laps of the skate park in my Moxis, whilst listening to the beat S2_COOL sent me. At the time I was lost in a dizzy teenage wash of infatuation and the lyrics came from that excitable and magical place.”
As well as being a world record holding hula hooper, her talents also spread to roller skating, both passions of which she utilises in her videos. Known for creating quirky and fun videos, this colourful and dance-filled video doesn’t disappoint.
Since releasing a collaboration with Grammy Nominated DJ/producerKaskadeforInternational Women’s Dayearlier this year, 2017 seems set to be a breakthrough year for the London-based songwriter/rapper. Their take onChaka Khan’s classic, ‘I’m Every Woman’ , garnered support from tastemakers including Billboard and Dancing Astronaut, and acted as a catalyst for Laura to develop her unique rap meets disco-house approach to music.
Laura’s other solo offering,‘Move It Like You Mean It’,also showcases her flair for writing personal and engaging, hook based singles. It went on to gain radio support fromBBC Introducing,BBC Radio 1andBBC 6 Music.
